History[]

Ally Sloper is an entrepeneur and opportunist businessman with an unnerring talent for always backing the wrong horse. He and his business partner Isaac Moses ('Ikey Mo') began a loan company while already bankrupt, selling loan application forms for tuppence each, and following the failure of that venture Ally went solo, opening a theatre but forgetting to pay the gas bill and starting a matrimonial agency whose only client was his own wife, amongst other ventures. He also invented Instant Photography (which did not give the sitter time to sit), discovered the source of the Nile (and fell in) and opened the first African divorce court (and was almost trampled to death by a local King's wives).

Notes[]

Ally Sloper returned in Ally Sloper #1 (1976)by Denis Gifford, published by Alan Class Publishing.
