History[]

Battak is a character from the 2000 AD strip Black-Hawk. He was a insect-like, winged, humanoid alien with massive claws who served as a kind of overseer in the arena of the Entertainers, where he repeatedly came into conflict with the gladiator Black-Hawk (a kidnapped human). When Black-Hawk, Ursa and Zog ended up on the planet of Silversun, Battak unwillingly accompanied them, but his duplicitous nature meant that he could never be trusted.

Decades later, a hideously mutated Battak, with black-Hawk in pursuit, emerged from a dimensional portal into Brit-Cit, where he came into conflict with Judge Lillian Storm before disappearing again.

Battak grew to maturity in a hive, which suggests that he is more like an insect than any other creature (although he also bears a slight resemblance to the offspring of a hyena and a very angry vulture). His blood is green, so it may be copper-based rather than iron-based.
