Robert Thomas 'Bob' Bartholomew (25th August 1923-9th October 2013) was a comics editor at IPC whose credits included Eagle (for which he alsio wrote episodes of Dan Dare and Guinea Pig), Look and Learn, Boy's World, Action and 2000 AD (of which, as with Action, he was the Managing Editor, responsible for approving all content; this led to a fair amount of resentment by creators who disliked what they saw as his censorship of their work). It was Bartholomew's insistence that comics characters should not smoke that led to the creation of Sam C Slade's robotic cigar, Stogie, in 2000 AD's Robo-Hunter series. He also worked on the Odhams Power Comics line.
