Alan Davis' art from prog 500

D.R. & Quinch was a 2000 AD strip written by Alan Moore and drawn by Alan Davis. It featured two alien college students, Waldo 'D.R.' Dobbs (the 'D.R.' stood for 'Diminished Responsibility') and his best friend Ernest Errol Quinch. (Any resemblance to the National Lampoon characters O.C. and Stiggs is entirely coincidental.) They first appeared in a Time Twister story in 2000 AD prog 317, and proved so popular that they were given their own series, starting in prog 350. The green-skinned, pointy-eared D.R. was the brains of the outfit, with his huge, taciturn friend Quinch providing the brawn. They shared an equal enthusiasm for chaos, mayhem, theft, joy-riding, the wanton destruction of property and the liberal application of weapons-grade explosives.

Stories[]

The first story of their series, 'D.R. & Quinch Go Straight' (2000 AD progs 350 to 351) told how the pair (with the help of their friend Pulger) avenged themselves on the judge who was planning to sentence them for a variety of heinous crimes. The second story, 'D.R. & Quinch Go Girl Crazy!' (2000 AD progs 352 to 354), showed D.R. falling in love with the nauseatingly well-behaved daughter of his drama coach. 'D.R. & Quinch Get Drafted' (2000 AD progs 355 to 359) depicted their adventures in the army, and 'D.R. & Quinch Go To Hollywood' (2000 AD progs 363 to 367) charted their brief but eventful careers as movie directors.
