The Special Operations Squad (S.O.S) were a four man elite anti-terrorist task force originally comprised of Captain John West (don't laugh), Sgt Thomas Mackenzie, Corporal Danny Lloyd and Henry 'Fingers' Malone, and later led (after Captain West was killed in issue #222) by the icy lady officer Captain J. W. Ironstead, who battled their way through the world's trouble spots in the pages of the 1980s revived Eagle. Their adventures began in issue #186 in 1985, and ran until issue #237, exactly one year later. They also appeared in the 1986 and 1988 Eagle Holiday Special's, and in the 1987 Eagle Annual. They were created by writer Barrie Tomlinson and artist Sandy James.
