Fred Basset, by Alex Graham, first appeared in the Daily Mail on July 8th 1963, and has since been syndicated worldwide. The story of the day to day life of a Basset hound with a dry sense of humour, the strip is still ongoing as of the time of writing and is now created by Michael Martin and the late Alex Graham's daughter Arran Graham. Regular characters in the strip are Fred's owners (an unnamed middle aged couple) and his friends Jock (a Scottie dog) and Yorky (a Yorkshire terrier). Curiously, Fred and his owners appear to be aware of the existence of a Fred basset cartoon strip, but not that they are in it. Digveggiebed
