Rennie has also written for various small press and independent publishers in both Britain and the US (on projects like Robbie Burns: Witch Hunter), and for Warhammer, as well as writing novels based on 2000 AD characters. In May 2008 he announced that he was quitting comics to concentrate on video games which, he said, "are more fun, pay better, and have a brighter future." However, he has since returned to 2000 AD.
