Horace (originally titled A Man Called Horace, a pun on the Western classic "A Man Called Horse") is a longrunning strip from the Daily Mirror about an inept cowboy who is clearly modelled on the Lone Ranger. Horace, who tries to present himself as a heroic figure, is generally regarded as an idiot by the other characters in the strip, in particular by the object of his affections, the acerbic Kitty. Horace debuted at almost exactly the same time as a similar strip in The Sun called Badlands, but has proven more enduring.
