History[]
Jake K. Falmuth was a CIA operative with 30 years of service and the true hero of the 2000 AD series Shako. After the eponymous bear had accidentally eaten a capsule containing a deadly chemical weapon, Falmuth put everything he had into retrieving the capsule. However, the more he tried, the more of his men were killed by Shako. Despite having several clear attempts at killing the bear, Falmuth and his team were interrupted by the "half-Eskimo ecologist" Buck Dollar and the native child Little Unk (who was later responsible for Shako killing his teacher and classmates, good going kid).
By the end of the story, Falmuth had to cope with losing his arm to Shako, the threat of possible Russian military invasion, interference from the natives, a growing lack of men and resources, the threat of losing his job after many years of loyal service, and his own right hand man Dobie pushing for it to happen so he could succeed him.
Eventually Falmuth led a small party along with Dobie to try and kill the bear, but all of them were killed. Just as Shako set upon him, Falmuth realised his gun was buried beneath a heap of snow, and was torn to pieces moments after. R.I.P. a true American hero.
