History

Judge Quincy is a character from the 2000 AD strip Judge Dredd. As one of the S.J.S. Judges loyal to the insane Judge Caligula, he was first seen arresting Judge Joseph Dredd on a fabricated charge of murder so he would be sent to Titan. It is unclear whether or not he knew at that point that the murder had been committed by a robot made to resemble Judge Dredd, but he definitely knew it later when Cal showed him the robot. Nevertheless, Quincy kept his mouth shut. Dredd escaped from the Titan shuttle, evaded a manhunt led by Quincy, and destroyed the robot without discovering that Cal was behind the attempt to frame him.

Quincy was later used by Cal as an assassin to murder Chief Judge Goodman, and then attempt to murder Judge Dredd, in order to further Cal's ambitions to become Chief Judge. Unfortunately for Quincy, he had lost a button from his uniform while killing Goodman, so rather than reward him for his loyalty Cal instead punished him for being improperly dressed while on duty. Quincy was ordered to perform his duties from then onward dressed only in his helmet, boots and polka-dot Y-fronts or boxer shorts. Cal wouldn't even let him get dressed for Judge Fish's funeral, although he and his Lawmaster were in the vanguard of the cortège.
