Maurice Dodd (25th October 1922-31st December 2005) was a writer and cartoonist best known as the writer of the long running newspaper strip The Perishers in the Daily Mirror from 1959 until his death in 2005 (he was hired to take over the strip from its less successful original writer, Ben Witham). Following the retirement of artist Dennis Collins in 1983, he also drew the strip until Bill Mevin took over the art chores in 1992.
