Janepett

Norman Pett (1891 - 1960) was a comic strip artist best known for the series Jane which ran in the Daily Mirror from 1932 onwards. The main character, Jane herself, was originally based on Pett's wife, Mary Wade, but was later based on model Chrystabel Leighton-Porter. In 1948, Pett turned the Jane strip over to his assistant Mike Hubbard while he himself went on to create a similar character, Susie, for the Sunday Dispatch. He also worked on comics, including Comet, Knock-Out and Girl.
