Odd Ball was a living rubber ball from the planet Bounco(!) which was accidentally booted into space during a football game and hurtled through Earth's solar system before colliding with a satellite and falling to Earth straight into the middle of another football game. Odd Ball, who could float in the air, speak (though he rarely did so) and change into any shape he wanted, and who apparently ate grass, was subsequently adopted by young West Ham fan Nobby Noodle, and stayed with him from then on, helping him out against bullies and generally just having fun. Odd Ball eventually learned to travel through time, too!
The Odd Ball strip first appeared in Whizzer and Chips #1 on 24th October 1969, and was mostly drawn by Terry Bave, although other artists including Kevin O'Neill(!) are believed to have occasionally filled in. The strip survived the cancellation of Whizzer and Chips and ended its life in the pages of Buster.
