History[]
Grant Gordon was a kid from New York who was accidentally transformed into a superhero when he foolishly swallowed a radioactive alien crystal handed to him by the Doctor. This sort of thing apparently happens if you live in New York. Grant spent some years juggling his double life as the Ghost with his duties as nanny to the child of his unrequited lifelong love, Lucy Lombard (now going by her married name of Fletcher), until the Doctor turned up again and helped them get together.
Later, the Ghost encountered the criminal Time Lord named Missy and was briefly tricked into falling in love with her until the Doctor sorted the situation out (see the 2018 Doctor Who annual).
Eight years later, the Ghost was again drawn into the Doctor's world. He was forced to surrender the crystal that empowered him in order to save the universe, and believed his life as a superhero was over. However, the Doctor later revealed that Grant's physiology had been permanently changed by years of exposure to it, so he still had his powers (see Doctor Who: Ghost Stories).
